Student Engagement

We have engaged student organizations directly both to raise awareness and, equally important, to learn and generate creative solutions by them.

  • Young Scholar Program on Migration: the INET Young Scholars Initiative along with LSE and AUB organized the research workshop "Challenging Conventional Wisdom: the Economics of Migration and Public Perception" for young researchers from the MENA region, 5 November 2017, Beirut, Lebanon

  • Student UN-style simulation: together with student organizations, LSE IGA hosted a student simulation From Migration Crisis to Migration Governance for about 30 students from ALUM universities. The event took place ahead of the high-level meeting of the UN General Assembly on Migration in September 2016. Peter Sutherland, UN Special Representative on Migration gave the keynote speech, and ALUM academic faculty helped animate the discussion. Senior officials from the UN system led the proceedings and gave feedback to students. May 6-9 2016, London, UK.

  • Students participated actively at the Workshop at Mannheim University on November 2-4, 2016 and the AUB Refugee Platform Conference in Beirut on January 27, 2017.
